I need to know what kind of engineer would help to make the hydrogen fuel cell more economical

Basically, any degreed engineer will have the fundamental knowledge of chemistry, physics and thermodynamics to begin learning about hydrogen fuel cells.

However, the experts who are at the leading edge of this field will have advanced knowledge of an area of study that is known as Energy Engineering. This involves thermodynamics, chemistry and combustion processes.

If you are looking for a bachelor degree program, mechanical engineering would probably be the right major. Then, you could specialize in fuel cells in graduate school.

Chemical Engineers will probably have the best background for hydrogen fuel technology. While my thermodynamics class, for example, covered fuel cells in one chapter only, the required courses have an extensive enough background to be able to learn about fuel cells and understand what is going on with ease.

Some of the courses are General Chemistry, Physical Chemistry, and Thermodynamics. However with Chemical Engineering there is enough background as well to be able to work with other types of fuel, aside from hydrogen fuel cells.

why would he be on the cell?
